Fremri röð: Hafdís Pála, DAgný Edda og Ástrós.Í dag hófst ferðalag A landsliðs kvenna í keilu til Abu Dhabi þar sem þær taka þátt í HM kvenna í keilu en það mót fer fram dagana 5. til 14. desember. Keppnin sjálf hefst á mánudaginn þann 7. á einstaklingskeppninni og svo þrímenningur miðvikudaginn 9.

THE WORLD BOWLING WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS SET TO BEGIN SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7TH

The world’s best female bowlers are set to battle it out at the much anticipated World Bowling Women’s World Championships which kick off on Sunday December 6th in the UAE’s capital city, Abu Dhabi. Located in the magnificent Zayed Sports City, Khalifa Bowling Centre is set to host 147 athletes from 30 countries.

In its 17th installment since the Women’s World Championships were first held in Mexico City in 1963, this prestigious event is held every two years proving the rivalry is set to be fierce with rife competition amongst the world’s top female bowlers. The athletes will be competing for titles in the Singles, Doubles, Trios, Teams, All Events and Masters Events. Listed as a Major Event in the World Bowling Tour Schedule, athletes also have the chance to earn double points on the World Bowling Tour Rankings (WBT Rankings).

President Kevin Dornberger says “We truly have the greatest female athletes all in one place in Abu Dhabi. This is going to be a close, tough and exciting competition of the highest standard.”

The ones to watch hail from the best of the best across the globe. Competing for the USA will be the world number 1, 2 and 3 spots as designated by the WBT Rankings, Kelly Kulick, Liz Johnson and new comer Danielle McEwan. The USA are again expected to uphold their past successes having broken records in previous Women’s World Championship Singles, Doubles and Trios categories. Singapore will again be on the radar with an outstanding team featuring Cherie Tan, Jazreel Tan and Shayne Ng who all currently feature in the top 10 places on the WBT Rankings. Other predicted successes come from Columbia’s hot shot Clara Guerrero and Latvian superstar Diana Zavjalova.

The event gets underway starting with the Singles on Monday December 7th and the Trios from Tuesday. This epic event is not one to be missed.
